Melissa Rios of EMA Models by Emmanuel Alexander

During our trek to Toronto, we were lucky to connect with so many great artists residing in the North side. Through our good friend Sammy Enrique of Enrique Modeling Agency, we got the chance to work with the lovely Melissa Rios who hails from Medellin, Colombia. She is a rising star on the scene that was quick to catch the eye of Sammy when he signed her in 2013. Seeing that her mother is singer Diana Zaira, it is only fitting that she has appeared in numerous music videos. You can catch Melissa in Drake’s ‘Started From The Bottom‘, Danny Fernandez’ ‘Broken Wings‘ and more recently in the upcoming video for Alex Veliz feat. Kardinal Offishall’s ‘Dancing Kizomba’ to name a few. Despite her increasing demand and popularity, she is incredibly grounded. Melissa was very sweet and easy to work with. It is also fitting that since this is the first shoot we are posting from our Toronto trip that the city skyline is highlighted in the images. Looking at these pictures brings back great memories and makes us look forward to making our way back there.

This shoot, along with many more to come, is photographed by the amazing Emmanuel Alexander. We cannot say enough good things about our boy Eames. As soon as we linked up, there was an instant connection and the positive energy translated directly into production. The man is a machine with an impeccable work ethic and is a true artist at heart above all else. We have a lot more to say but we will save it for later as Eames will be featured plenty in the near future! We’d also like to give a special shoutout to Nicole Prager, whom we met at the Eaton Center when we were in search of a new make up artist. Thank you for coming through for us! It was awesome meeting and working with you. Nothing but good vibes. Lastly, a big thank you to Ashley Hassard for also being an amazing help to us during our time there. Very much appreciated. Our team is looking forward for the opportunity to connect and work with you all again.

It’s funny how certain things come together. This shoot may have started off a bit shaky but it’s safe to say that everyone involved was blown away with the final product. The lovely model in this shoot is Julijana Gvozdic who is represented by our friend Sammy Enrique over at Enrique Modeling Agency. Although we have worked with EMA before, we had never met Julijana until the shoot. Normally, that isn’t an issue because that is often the nature of the industry. Just Breezies takes a lot of pride in leaving great impressions and we are confident in our professionalism…so it was kind of embarrassing to say the least when we provided Julijana with the incorrect address for the location (Sorry!). Luckily, it didn’t delay us much and she was cool enough to get over it pretty quick. It’s easy to get blinded by her gorgeous looks and great modeling skills, so that is why it is all the more impressive to most when casually tells you that she works as a Paralegal and only models on the side. That doesn’t mean that she is a stranger to being in front of a camera though. She has plenty of experience being featured in music videos. Sammy first met Julijana on the set of The Weeknd’s music video ‘Pretty’. Needless to say, she immediately caught his attention and it was a no brainer when he made the decision to sign her to EMA. It is ironic because The Weeknd is her favorite artist as well. Since then, she has appeared in numerous other videos such as PARTYNEXTDOOR’s ‘Break From Toronto‘, P. Reign’s ‘We Dem N*ggas‘ feat. A$AP Rocky, Majid Jordan’s ‘A Place Like This‘ and more. We are so happy to have been able to work with her because she has such a sweet personality and a great sense of humor that instantly made it easy for us to vibe with her.

This brilliant shoot was done effortlessly by Darrel Chirume. Darrel arrived a bit early while we were in the middle of our previous photo shoot. Darrel is one of the more humble and focused people we have come across. He loves what he does and puts his all into his work. He is another person we are fortunate enough to have connected with on our Toronto trip and maintained a lasting relationship with. As soon as he walked in, we had a long conversation and found that we share the same vision and drive to be successful in this industry. It felt as if we had worked with Darrel for years, despite the fact that we had also just met him for the first time at the shoot. He was very inspired by the beautiful location and knew exactly what he wanted to shoot as soon as he arrived. We shared a laugh with Julijana when Darrel walked outside on the balcony and awkwardly gave directions to her when we couldn’t even hear him from inside. However, it was just another instance of how perfectly things came together because the shot he got was amazing which made us laugh even more. This shoot was unique because we shot it entirely in black and white which we had never done before. It is fair to say that as happy as we were with what was accomplished that day, we left inspired to do even more the next time. We can’t wait to work with everyone again. What is your favourite aspect about modeling?Being a part of an incredible detail oriented process/art form and connecting with artistic minds.

What is the first thing about a guy that draws your interest?His eyes and smile. A magnetic look is irresistible!!!

What is your biggest turn ON in a guy?Biggest turn on would be thoughtfulness and sincerity. Physically, his eyes.

What does it take for a guy to win your heart? What is your weakness?He would have to be selfless, adventurous, driven and ambitious.. Has to be an animal lover, that is my weakness!!!

What is the worst experience you’ve had in a relationship?The thing that leaves the most bitter taste in my mouth is lying…Lies will kill the relationship quickly and the truth always comes out. Always.

List 5 things off of your Bucket List that you have yet to conquer.– Machu Picchu– Nepal– Bali– Tiger Temple– Mountain gliding

Can you cook? What is your specialty?Yes I can cook, I’m better at baking though because I love sweets so I make the yummiest kinder cake (kinder eggs), Nutella cheesecake and I can make some mean pastas!

Who is the most inspirational figure you know?The most inspirational figure to me would be Nikola Tesla.

What is the most exciting place you have traveled to?Definitely have to be Egypt, it was the most memorable trip I’ve ever taken for too many reasons to list but seeing the pyramids was surreal!!

What is the most adventurous thing you have done?Climbing Mt. Fuji in Japan.

What is one thing you would do to make the world a better place?Free education. Knowledge is power.

If you were to have a movie based on your life, which actor would you hand pick to play the role of you?Angelina Jolie.

What advice would you give to an aspiring model?Network, network, network. Stay true to yourself throughout it all.

Why do you feel it is difficult for some women to support each other?A lot of women feel threatened by each other so instead of supporting one another, they choose to hate on each other… Which is very wrong because we already have so much going against us. We should empower each other and compliment each other instead of being jealous.

In your opinion, what do you feel is the biggest crisis or injustice in the world today?I would rather not get into this topic because I am too passionate and this would become a very long essay.

Playing the Love Dr. for a minute. What advice would you give to a couple who is losing their flame and excitement?I would say start traveling together…Go on adventures, do things out of your comfort zone…Learn different things about that person. You are in this situation because you are comfortable..

Open Mic – If there is any message you would like to send to the audience, now is your time!I would like to encourage everyone to not conform to society and media that just blinds you and controls you. Form your own opinions. Research and think outside of the box…Open your mind…We are blinded by way too many things these days and most people down even realize because they’re running on auto pilot.
